BOOK REVIEW: THE KANSAS NCO

Joe CAMPOLO Jr. with Joyce Faulkner

The Kansas NCO is the first book in author Joe Campolo’s trilogy of novels on a group of men in the Vietnam War and its aftermath. In the first book we meet Andrew Cruscianelli (Cru for short), several other men, and hear about the Kansas NCO who runs an illegal theft ring in which several of the characters participate. He is not ID’d until the latter part of the book.

The book uses adult language, fittingly used by men in a war zone. We learn terminology in the first part of the book then, by that time, we are hooked on the story.

CAMPOLO said in an interview at https://www.redenginepressusa.com/post/interview-with-joe-campolo-jr that there were real soldiers in the Golden Triangle who carried out real x illegal operations like in the book.

The book is gripping. It makes readers ready for that second book.
