Movie Review: “Where the Crawdad Sings”

The 2022 movie “Where the Crawdads Sing” is based on a book by the same name. Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Taylor John Smith, it tells the story of a girl named Kya who raises herself in the North Carolina swamp after being abandoned by her family. She learns to recognize and draw many species of creatures around her leading to her cataloguing what she sees. She is a very private person and doesn’t begin to share herself until a young man offers her a feather.

When another man uses her, he winds up dead. Kya is charged with his murder and faces trial in a town where she is viewed as a misfit.

The movie is well done. The acting is good and the story compelling. Watch it if you get the chance.
